The belt squat targets the quadriceps and glutes with the hamstrings and adductors assisting. Because the load pulls down through the hips, the glutes work hard at the bottom of the squat, the erectors are spared, and the movement can also be used for marching, split squats and calf raises.

The lever pivots on commercial-rated sealed bearings with continuous welds, the belt attaches to the loading arm, the platform supports the user over the load, and the plate horn takes standard Olympic plates.
Like every Plate Load machine, it carries a two-coat, electrostatically applied powder finish in black with a vermilion-red texture; 5 cm of rebonded foam under 10 mm of high-density foam with a CGPC PVC cold-latex leather cover, double stitched; dipped PVC handgrips; continuous welds at all pivot points; and commercial-rated sealed bearings at every pivot. Resistance comes from the Olympic plates the facility already owns, loaded on the machine’s horns.
