Apex Recumbent Elliptical

Brand: TRUE Fitness · Model: APEX-RE · Category: Elliptical

The TRUE Apex Recumbent Elliptical combines a seated, step-through frame with an elliptical leg motion and moving arms, so users get a total-body workout with their back supported. A swivel seat with 20 height positions, PowerStroke leg extension and 30 resistance levels up to 600 watts make it one of the most accessible machines on a gym floor, with a 181 kg user limit.

• Step-through frame with swivel seat

• PowerStroke technology for a fuller seated leg extension

• 30 resistance levels, 40–600 watts

• Upper-body, lower-body and total-body modes

• 181 kg maximum user weight

The TRUE Apex Recumbent Elliptical is the seated elliptical in TRUE Fitness’s Apex commercial series. It pairs a supportive swivel seat and step-through frame with a front-drive elliptical motion and moving arms, so members who find a standing elliptical difficult can still train the whole body. A hybrid self-generating drive gives 30 resistance levels from 40 to 600 watts.

Who is this machine for?

The Apex Recumbent Elliptical suits commercial gyms, senior-fitness and rehabilitation settings, hospitals, YMCA-style community centres and hotel gyms where users of every age and ability share the floor. The swivel seat turns to meet the user, the step-through frame removes the need to climb on, and the 181 kg maximum user weight covers a broad membership.

Key workout benefits

PowerStroke technology extends the leg further through each stroke than a conventional recumbent bike, which engages more of the glutes and hamstrings from a seated position. Upper-body and lower-body isolation modes let users rest the legs while working the arms, or vice versa, and total-body mode works both.

The UNITE consoles add workouts from 5K and 10K to 30:30 intervals, MMA, hill programmes, goals and HRC Cruise Control, with Workout Boosters on the 16-inch, 22-inch and LED consoles. Heart rate is read through contact grips, with Polar-compatible Bluetooth monitoring.

Build quality and user experience

Active Seat Position adjusts the seat through 20 height settings so each user sits at the right distance from the pedals. Oversized soft-grip pedals and stationary footpegs let the user rest the feet while working the arms, and fingertip controls on the stationary handles change resistance without reaching for the console. Ergonomic exercise arms wear moisture-resistant MultiGrip handles.

The frame is robotically welded heavy-gauge steel with side steps, and Ecofit asset management lets facilities track usage. Two front transport wheels make repositioning possible.

Space, installation and power

The Apex Recumbent Elliptical occupies 183 × 99 cm of floor. Leave about 0.6 m clear beside the seat for stepping through. With the UNITE LED console the machine is self-powered; the touchscreen consoles need a mains socket, which our team arranges before delivery.

Care and maintenance

Wipe the seat, backrest, handles, pedals and console after each session and keep the seat rail and pedal arms free of dust and sweat. Check pedal and handle fasteners monthly. If the motion develops play or noise, or resistance becomes uneven, book a service visit rather than opening the housing.

Frequently asked questions

What is a recumbent elliptical?

A recumbent elliptical is a seated machine whose pedals move in an elliptical path rather than a circle, usually with moving arms. It gives a low-impact, total-body workout with the back supported, which suits older users, heavier users and anyone returning from injury.

What is the difference between the TRUE Apex and Gravity recumbent ellipticals?

Both have PowerStroke, a step-through frame, 20 seat positions, 30 resistance levels up to 600 watts and a 181 kg user limit. The Apex adds a swivel seat, fingertip resistance controls on the stationary handles, footpegs, side steps and MultiGrip handles, while the Gravity is the lighter 122 kg model with a fixed seat.

Does the TRUE Apex Recumbent Elliptical need to be plugged in?

With the UNITE LED console the machine is self-generating and needs no mains socket. The UNITE touchscreen consoles require mains power.
